Korea’s capital city of Seoul held the 1988 Olympic Games and brought many visitors to the country. The country’s popularity has continued to grow since this time and has now become a destination that many people flock to in Asia. The mix of historical and cultural attractions, beach resorts and excellent cuisine means that there are plenty of experiences of which visitors can enjoy.

You may wish to delve into the Korean cuisine which has an abundance of exotic flavours and ingredients.  The Korean social and dining culture involves people going out for food, so there are many different eateries for you to try whilst on holiday. There are establishments to suit all holiday budgets; you can try to noodle vendors that adorn each street corner or the lavish restaurants which produce visually spectacular cuisine. Even though some of the top end businesses are quite well priced, you are likely to find more authentic meals at the budget establishments which Korean locals tend to visit.

For those wanting to dance and sing the night away, Seoul is the best destination as the city is well known for its wide choice of entertainment. You can travel from bars to nightclubs to karaoke lounges to sample all of the late night events that take place within Korea. Many of the larger cities offer night activities where the restaurants and bars stay open till late and offer their customers live entertainment.

When to Visit

Korea has four different seasons, and the climates are completely contrasting within each one. The summer seasons tend to be extremely hot and humid and Seoul can reach temperatures of up to 35 degrees centigrade.   However the winter season is dramatically different as its climate tends to be below zero.  It can rain throughout the year, yet this mainly occurs during the monsoon season (known as Jangma) that takes places between June and September. The extremities within the winter and summer temperatures means that it is advisory to visit during the autumn or spring months.  The temperatures during these seasons are moderate so are great for sightseeing and cultural breaks.

Recommended Destinations

Jeonju is a well known tourist city due to the abundance of Korean cuisine that is served within its restaurants. One of its famous dishes is bibimbap which is a mixed rice dish that both citizens and visitors enjoy.  Jeonju also contains four national parks where you are able to walk along the trails and explore the exotic animals and plant life.  Damyang is also a great natural location due to its bamboo-filled forests. There are small villages that border the forests, where you can explore and understand the traditional Korean lifestyles that still exist. On the other hand the vibrant city of Seoul is perfect for tourists that are looking for Korea’s cultural buzz. This urban area is filled with shopping districts, musical entertainment and fancy eateries for you to delve into and explore.
