Daejeon has plenty to offer for the various tourists that descend upon the city. The central areas contain many shopping areas, high-rise buildings and cosmopolitan attractions, which makes it a vibrant place to visit. Natural Attractions in Daejeon

The scenic sights around Daejeon teem with cultural resonance as well as being visually spectacular. The Sikjansan Mountain Forest is filled with Korean plant life and the extensive walking trails allow you to delve and explore these natural surroundings. There are temples which surround the mountain, where you can visit and learn about the past and present religion within the city.

Mount Bomunsan is also a popular natural sight to visit as it is open all year and is free of charge. There is an observatory and cable cars that allow you to view across the expansive greenery and explore the wildlife within. You can also try to spot the 20 springs around and within the mountain where each provides you with drinkable spring water. The 10 different walking trails will take you around the various historical sites that can be found within the mountainous area.

Inner City attractions

The Daejeon Museum of Art was established in 1998 and has become a firm favourite with tourists and citizens ever since. The museum concentrates on art and technology and has a variety of 2D and 3D works on display.  The numerous exhibitions of both traditional and contemporary art sometimes change, meaning that there is always something new to view.

Listening to the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra is also a great way to soak up the Korean culture. They play in many local venues as well as doing international tours. To get a taste of the Korean way of life, you may also wish to stroll around the streets of Daejeon Station.  You can explore the markets, boutiques and traditional medicine stores that are an integral part of the inner city lifestyle.

Things To Do in Daejeon

The Yuseong Hot Springs Resort is a great way to unwind and escape from the bustle of inner city life. The springs contain many minerals which rejuvenate the skin and contain many health benefits for neuralgia and geriatric diseases. As these are popular places to visit, there is accommodation available nearby so you can stay and enjoy the springs for a few days.

You may also want to visit a variety of Daejeon’s museums, where you can soak up the Korean history and culture. The Currency Museum looks at how the economy and currency has changed within Korea throughout the ages. The National Science Museum is also extremely informative and showcases both permanent and temporary exhibitions which look at the developments and inventions that have taken place over time. The Art Center, within the downtown area, contains the modern work of young artists. The exhibitions change every few months, so there is always something fresh to see.
