Historically Important Attractions
The Ancient Citadel is one of the most important sights to see whilst in Hue. The attraction used to protect the old city that existed within its walls. Very little remains of this wall as the ancient city was invaded and bombed by the Americans. When you enter the Ancient Citadel, you will find the lotus pond that was once for the personal use of the emperor. You can also see the exquisite architecture of the Thai Hoa Palace which is now an important venue for ceremonies and receptions.
The Forbidden Purple City is another historical attraction that is popular with tourists. The City was built is the 19th Century, however very little of it now remains as a result of the Tet Offensive. The few remnants of the buildings illustrate the grandness that used to exist within Hue.
Hue’s Natural Sights
The Bach Ma National Park was created in 1991 in order to protect the mountain range that borders Hue. The dense forestry is filled with the exotic animals and plants that are now protected as a result of this scheme. The park is perfect for plant lovers as there are over 2147 different varieties of vegetation within the area. There are also 86 types of endangered plants and a variety of medicinal foliages.
The Lang Co Beach is the perfect place to retreat to and relax whilst you are on holiday. The plant life that exists beneath its waters makes it ideal for tourists who are looking for a Vietnamese adventure. Whilst exploring underwater, you are likely to find shrimps, crab, mackerel, oysters and lobsters. The abundance of sea life means that you can also see how the local villages fish for their food and economy. The Range Cua which surrounds the white sands provides an idyllic backdrop for this perfect beach experience.
Cuisine
Hue is considered to have some of the best restaurants within all of Vietnam; many serve traditional Eastern dishes that are pleasing on the eye as well as the palate. The Banh Khoai Restaurant is a family run business that always has top class service. The menu is filled with local dishes and its most famous meal is the fresh crepes that are stuffed with Peanut Sauce. The Paradise Garden restaurant is a great place to visit if your travel companions have a variety of different tastes. There are Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisines as well the traditional Vietnamese dishes. The views from the restaurant are spectacular as the establishment is positioned on the bank of Huong River and has views across the Trang Tien Bridge.
