Paris City Guide

Many tourists flock to Paris throughout the year so that they can marvel at the top tourist spots that exist within the city. As well as offering a great cultural and historical break away, there are also many other aspects which attract holidaymakers year upon year. There are fabulous restaurants and cafes, a range of different shopping districts as well as Euro Disney – making Paris an ideal place for a range of holidaymakers.

Arc de Triomphe

There are a number of must-see tourist spots within Paris, and many are even within walking distance of each other. Ensuring that you have a hotel close to the centre, or an apartment that is near a metro line, will allow you to enjoy a true Parisian sightseeing experience. Visit the Arc de Triomphe, a defining symbol of Paris which was built in 1836. The vast impressive period features can be seen from miles around, and reaching the top of the building will provide you with great views across the rest of Paris.

Notre Dame Cathedral

The Notre Dame Cathedral is another place that people choose to visit when holidaying in France. The cathedral was built in 1345, and the Gothic architecture still remains today – make sure that you look at the intricate detailing and spy the eerie gargoyles that peer out across the crowds. You can also view the expansive rose windows, a pipe organ and the towering spire. If you are prepared to walk the hundreds of steps to the North Tower, you can enjoy great views across the Seine.

Grand Mosque

People flock to the Grand Mosque, which is close to the Jardin des Plantes. The Hispanic-Moorish building is an exotic establishment, rich in both design and colour. There are intricate bright mosaics within the courtyards filled with fig trees and fountains, where you can sit and sip mint tea in the afternoon sun. You may also choose to visit the hammam, a Turkish bath, where you can get a massage from one of the professionals.

Louvre Museum

The Louvre became a museum in 1793 and has displayed many famous art pieces throughout this time. The building itself is also iconic because of its glass pyramids that stand above ground. It is currently the home of the must-see Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. The Louvre also displays permanent collections from the Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Oriental eras. It will take a while to walk around the abundance of great painting and sculptures that exist inside, so make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to stroll around.

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is the main attraction that draws people to Paris. This iconic site literally towers over everything else within the capital city, and its famous frame can be seen for miles around. To get a breathtaking cityscape of Paris – where you will have the opportunity to spot all other famous attractions – climb the hundreds of steps to the top.
