Miami City Guide

Miami SkylineAnyone going on their holidays to Florida will most definitely not be short of things to do, especially if they are staying in Miami.  This may be the most popular city for Americans to retire to, but it is certainly not lacking in life, vibrancy or excitement.

Not only does sub-tropical Miami have plenty to see and do, but there are also some great surrounding areas to consider; the Everglades, Kendale Lakes and Biscayne National Park are all just a short drive away.  And of course, everyone will have heard of the major tourist resorts such as Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Hollywood and Palm Beach.

So, if you are planning on jetting off to the States and you are looking for beautiful white beaches, glorious sunshine and numerous attractions to visit, then Miami is the perfect choice!

Where to Stay in Miami

Finding yourself accommodation in Miami will not cause you any problems.  When you are looking at holidays to Florida you will see there is a great selection of hotels or villas to choose from.  You will have the option of staying within the very centre of the city itself, or somewhere just on its outskirts.

There are plus’s to both of these choices, but it will all come down to what you want from your holiday.  Are you looking forward to relaxing amongst the picturesque landscapes of palms and orange groves in the area?  Or are you planning on an activity-filled holiday, sampling the cosmopolitan lifestyle of the city?

Things to do in Miami

If you are looking for exciting or interesting experiences in ‘The Magic City’, then you will certainly be spoilt for choice.  For starters, there are all of the obvious family attractions such as the Seaquarium or Metrozoo.

But in Miami, it is not necessary to go off to big name attractions to have a good time.  Neighbourhoods like Little Havana with its large Cuban community are fascinating places to visit.  And for anyone with a love for style, Coconut Grove is well worth some investigation!

And there are still plenty of things to do in Miami long after the sun goes down.  Anyone looking for nightspots will have a fantastic choice of venues in a city that is famed for its diversity and culture.  After all, Miami is rich with the Latin American spirit!

What You May Not Know About Miami…

Miami was first put on the map in a big way back in the 1920’s.  It suddenly became an enormously fashionable place to be a part of.  Anyone who was anyone would make a beeline for Miami!  There is still plenty of evidence of this today, as much of the beautiful Art Deco architecture has been lovingly cared for, renovated and preserved.  If you are a fan of Art Deco, then South Beach just has to be seen

During World War II, the city played a pretty important role.  There were several military bases there that were home to hundreds and thousands of soldiers whilst they were in training.

Since the war years, Miami has continued to thrive and it attracts thousands of visitors who are on their holidays to Florida.
