Things To Do
A great activity for adults is a trip to the Wine Country which is situated just an hour north of the City. The area’s history regarding wine can be explored through visiting the sloping hills which were filled with wine vines during the 19th Century. This is a spot which has become popular with the tourists as Californian wine has become popular throughout the world. Two great places are the Napa Valley and Sonoma which allow you to indulge in tasting the regions wines. For such events it is advisable to book in advance due to its popularity.
Activities
One of the most famous attractions are the cable cars which take you on a ride downtown. Such sights include excellent scenes of the bay as well as Lombard Street which is the most crooked street in the world. Once getting off the cable car there are many other activities on offer, such as cinemas and a range of restaurants.
Another great place to visit which is bursting with activities is Fisherman’s Wharf. On Ghirardelli Square there are many sweet and chocolate making shops which enable you to witness goodies being made and created. You can then buy the snacks you have seen come to life. This area is also excellent for a shopping trip and souvenir buying with many little boutiques and shops down the winding streets. Within Fisherman’s Wharf there are also restaurants which enable you to taste San Francisco’s traditional clam chowder and sourdough bread. For children there is also an amusement area within the Pier 39 area as well as an underwater world of sea creatures in the Aquarium of the Bay’s.
Cuisine
Each different area within San Francisco offers diverse and different cuisine due to the varied cultures inhabiting the areas. The opening of The Ferry Building Marketplace was much to the applause of locals and tourists due to its local selections of breads, meats, fish, cheeses and many other produce. This spot prides itself on its quality food which is reflected in the restaurants dotted around the area. For a great morning trip, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday offer a Farmer’s Market which allows you to purchase and taste the wares on offer. Another great place to eat is Chinatown, which is one of the largest Chinatowns in the US. Steering off the main streets, you can find some exciting and authentic restaurants and markets. There are many restaurants where all contain excellent dishes, so search around for one which suits your tastes and budget.
San Francisco has much to offer the tourists which flock to the area. There are activities for adults within the wine district with the vineyards and wine tasting of Californian produce. Moreover if with a family there are many fun attractions ranging from amusement areas to cable cars to aqua worlds.
