Cruise & Stay Cruise Holidays

Cruise ShipPerhaps you’ve heard someone talking about a cruise and stay holiday, and wondered what it’s all about? Or you know roughly what it is, but want to know more.

A cruise and stay holiday is a holiday that combines a traditional stay in a hotel with a cruise. This sort of holiday can be ideal if you’re looking to try cruising but aren’t really sure if the experience is one which will suit you, or perhaps if you want to experience several locations, but one more so than the others.

If you’re afraid of flying, you could opt to reach your destination by cruise, take your holiday and then cruise back home again. It’s a much more relaxed way to travel spending a few days on board a huge cruise liner that’s got all the amenities of a hotel complex and sometimes even more.

Maybe you just hate the wasted time involved in flying – endless standing in queues and sitting in terminals which are boring waiting for a flight which is delayed, finally boarding your plane only to spend another hour taxiing the runway because of a backlog of other planes waiting to take off. Whatever the reason, opting for a cruise as your mode of transportation means that from the moment you step on board your holiday has begun.

Some of the things you may find on offer to you aboard your cruise liner include:

  • Fine Dining, Buffets, Bistros and sometimes 24 hour room service.
  • Fun night life – clubs, bars, comedy and west end style shows.
  • Casinos for gaming.
  • Spas, salons, fitness classes and even running tracks.
  • Specialised children’s activities designed to appeal to kids of various ages.
  • Swimming pools
  • Shops

Compare this to the lack of amenities offered on more traditional modes of transport such as flying, driving, or travelling by rail, and you can see why so many people soon find themselves cruise converts.

Of course once you reach your chosen destination, the ‘stay’ part of your holiday begins. From relaxed beach holidays in the Caribbean around the Bahamas with sunny beaches, swaying palm trees and crystal clear waters, to active holidays offering excitement such as hiking, scuba diving or ziplinning the choice is yours. Relax with a book on the beach, or spend your days exploring museums or experiencing thrilling adventure rides. Then it’s back to your cruise ship and a relaxing day or two spent sailing the oceans before you arrive home rested and ready to tell your holiday tales.
