Moon Travel Guides

green up arrow

Moon travel guides pride themselves on being the "cure for the common trip." They do seem to offer more information on history, culture, the arts, etc. than other guidebooks.

These large, helpful guidebooks provide suggested strategies and itineraries. They tell you how to plan trips to various places like wine country and natural history attractions.

The Moon books contain black & white photos, illustrations, and maps. There are a few color pictures in the front of each book. These guides are full of comprehensive information on transportation, accommodations, restaurants, outdoor recreation, and sightseeing options. In addition, the Moon guidebooks provide insight into language, history, geography, people, arts, politics, and social issues.

Moon travel guides cover top attractions and lesser known things to do and see. With essential information on dining, transportation, and accommodations for a range of budgets, the Moon guidebooks are helpful to backpackers, business travelers, families, and recreational travelers.

There are notes at the back of each book on getting to and around various places. There are tips for travelers and even an additional suggested reading list, if you want to learn more about a particular topic.

Because these travel guides don't have color maps and photos printed on heavy paper, they are easier to carry as you travel. The information in the Moon books may help you avoid some of the more overly recommended places in other popular guidebooks.

red down arrow The Moon guidebooks may not contain enough "off-the-beaten-track" recommendations for some.

The maps are sometimes overly detailed and have small print that's difficult to read.
