Periplus Maps
Periplus specializes in China, Japan, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Australia/New Zealand. It publishes regional, country, and city maps as well as street atlases.
These maps are in color and printed on both sides of heavy folded paper. The Tokyo regional product shows area maps of Greater Tokyo and the Kanto District. There are also city plans for Central Tokyo, Akasaka, Ginza, Harajuku, Roppongi, Shinjuku, and Shibuya.
There's a large color diagram of the Tokyo rail system and an index of places of interest in Central Tokyo,
including hotels, shopping areas, places of worship, parks, schools, and health care facilities.
Place names are printed in both Japanese and English.
Because Periplus maps are printed in two languages, they look a little bit cluttered. There's not always a lot of street-by-street detail, but they do give a good general idea of neighborhoods and large areas.
Sometimes the metro maps can be hard or confusing to read. On the Tokyo rail diagram, for example, even with rail lines of different colors, it can be hard to follow the lines and read the names of the stations.
