The hardest part about visiting the Greek Isles is deciding which ones to visit. There are over 6,000 islands, with only 227 of them inhabited. Crete is the largest island by size, and the Cyclades islands are probably the most famous vacation spot.

39 islands make up the Cyclades islands. Tinos is the largest, and is famous for its amazing church of Panagia. The Church of Virgin Mary houses an amazing statue of Virgin Mary, which is praised as the most important religious monument in all of Greece.
The Saronic Islands are close to Greece’s capital, Athens, with Aegina island being the closest. Aegina is known for it’s production of pistachios. The Temple of Apollo, which was dedicated to god Apollo, is within walkking distance from the town. The temple is known as “Kolona”, which means column, as there is one remaining ancient column left standing today.
The Hellenic Wildlife Hospital is a great spot to visit to view rare species you might not otherwise get a chance to see in real life. About 4,000 injured animals are treated here each year, including Imperial Eagles, Egyptian Vultures, and Eleanora Falcons.
The Ionian islands have some of the most awesome beaches you will ever see. Lefkada island is the location o f Kathisma beach, rated by some as the most beautiful beach on the island. The white sands and turquoise waters are inviting and soothing. There are shops and markets, and also restaurants located close by in case there is a chance you tire of sunbathing.
Lefkada is mostly made up of high mountains, which makes for some magnificent waterfalls. The Dimosarri waterfall is a must see. It gracefully flows into a gorge made of white rock for a splendid show. In the warmer months, many visitors will cool themselves in the sparkling waters around it’s base.
The ancient Agia Mavra Castle was built in the 14th century. Renovations and preservation of the castle make it a splendid architetural sight.
